The Exploratorium is like a mad scientist's penny arcade, a scientific funhouse and an experimental laboratory all rolled into one. This museum of science, art and human perception contains hundreds of exhibits designed to spark curiosity—regardless of your age or familiarity with science. You can blow a two-foot bubble, shrink and grow in the Distorted Room, or dissect a cow's eye. Play a game of tabletop basketball wearing perception-altering glasses.
Take a sensory journey in total darkness in the Tactile Dome, as you crawl, slide and climb through this maze in which your sense of touch is your only guide. Known as the first and foremost of the world's interactive museums, the Exploratorium is housed in the Palace of Fine Arts, located in San Francisco's Marina district near the Golden Gate Bridge. |
